Johnson(8-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the Dart hitters. He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Johnson recorded 9 strikeouts. The left-handed Johnson had his no-hit bid broken up by Aaron Miles who singled with one out in the 8th inning. Dart threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Troy Percival was credited with his 4th save. Kerry Wood(1-4) was hit with the loss. He struck out 12 batters in 9 innings despite losing the game. 'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said John Callanan after the game. 'We lost this game today because we didn't follow the instructions every Little Leaguer hears every day.'
